“Microplastics in Young Fish” (watch on VIMEO, 3 minutes and 46 seconds, all ages)

Dr. Valenti from NOAA discusses her research looking into microplastics found in fish off the Jersey Shore and how they affect the food chain.

NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Fisheries is part the trusted federal authority on the science and management of fish, other marine life and their habitats. NOAA researchers study, among other things, rebuilding protected species and habitats and enhancing coastal resilience. NOAA scientists housed at Sandy Hook’s James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory (where there are 12 research labs and a two-story 32,000 gallon aquarium!) conduct countless experiments on water temperature, salinity and ocean acidification.
